Start with the cargo profile
Freight transport is not one-size-fits-all. Palletized freight, packaged materials, steel products, construction supplies and large manufactured components can require different trailers and loading methods.

- List overall dimensions and total weight.
- Explain whether loading is by dock, forklift, crane or ground access.
- Identify pickup and delivery windows.

Trailer selection
Box and curtain-side trailers are suited to enclosed or weather-protected freight. Flatbeds simplify side and crane loading. Lowbeds are considered where height, weight or machinery loading requires a lower deck.
What determines the transport plan?
A freight quote should describe more than the pickup and delivery addresses. Cargo type, dimensions, weight, packaging, loading method and timing determine which equipment is appropriate and whether there are special handling or access requirements.

Freight that needs extra attention
Long, tall, wide, heavy or concentrated loads may require open-deck or specialized equipment. Cargo with limited securement points or a high centre of gravity should be identified early so the transport method can be reviewed before dispatch.
