Moving machinery safely starts with the machine specification, its transport configuration and a clear plan for loading at both ends.
Record the machine in transport configuration
Provide make, model, operating weight and overall dimensions when available. If booms fold, buckets detach or counterweights are removed, describe the exact configuration in which the unit will travel.
Attachments should be listed separately when they consume additional deck space or change the overall weight.
Confirm whether the unit can self-load
A machine that can safely drive onto suitable equipment may have different loading requirements from a disabled unit. Steering, brakes and ground clearance should be considered before assuming self-loading is possible.
Non-running equipment may require a winch, crane or other loading support.
Prepare the pickup and delivery sites
Identify slopes, soft ground, narrow gates, overhead wires, active traffic and other constraints. A large trailer needs adequate room to approach, align and exit.
